VISITATION 4      TREPPELSEE      18-12-2011

MAIN MOVEMENT (Nitschke) -

Telling the annunciation of Fra Angelico to the birds

SUPPLEMENTARY OBJECT (Zakharov, Nitschke)

At a bench located at the lakeside of the Treppelsee, from where it is possible to overview the biggest part of the lake, Nitschke leaves Zakharov to climb the soft hillside at the lakeshore, veering away from Zakharov for about 50 m, laying down a red object there which cannot be identified from the distance. After returning to Zakharov, Nitschke paints the back of his right hand with the colours Fra Angelico used to depict the wings of the angel of annunciation in a painting of the annunciation from 1450 (which was part of a cupboard to store religious silver plate). The painting is part of a cycle telling the life of christ. Holding, together with Zakharov, a white piece of cloth exactly sized according to the dimensions of the painting, Nitschke describes the painting in detail -its vanishing point perspektive, the angel, the humble gesture of mary accepting the word-, addressing the empty space of the lake. Some birds are there in distance. Nitschke holds the cloth with his left hand while gesturing with his right according to his talking. Zakharov holds the cloth with his right while filming with his left hand. After having ended Nitschke washes his hand with the water of the lake, dries his hand with the piece of cloth, places the piece of cloth at the lakeside close to the water, leaves the place a second time to pack the red object and carry it again. During the continuation of the long walk around the lake Zakharov associates the green moss growing on the hillside next to the lake, the moss developing a glowing colour within the frosty, grey and slowly darkening landscape.
